How you can assist us to make our Arts Festival World Class

The Southern African Arts Festival is the second oldest Scientology hosted festival in the world after St. Hill Manor in East Grinstead, Sussex, UK.

We can confidently say that the quality of our festival has gone from strength to strength over the years. Many of our performers at the concerts are well up to International standards. In fact, a number of them have gone on to carve out national and international careers for themselves.

Our workshops have also opened the eyes of many novices to the wonderful world of the arts. Experienced professional artists have either hosted the workshops or have benefitted from a refresher course in their particular discipline.

Every year, the Festival Committee racks their brains for ways and means of making each festival better than the last and generally we have succeeded. However, our biggest hassle has been the lack of funds with which to put the festival together before we sell the tickets, which have thankfully paid our bills every year.

So we have now devised a win win way in which we can accumulate funds for the festival throughout the year. This allows us to plan for the stage, lighting, sound, put up many more posters and so on.

Are we asking you for more money? No, although any extra donations will always be gratefully received. What we are asking however is for you to pay for your tickets on a monthly basis throughout the year prior to the festival. This way you are not confronted with the price of one or two tickets just before the Festival. Instead, for as little as R30 per month, you have paid for your ticket with a little bit of change for next year or whatever. All you have to do then is turn up at the festival.

Attached is a form that you need to fill in (Debit Order Form). The amount you want to pay is then taken off every month. You are very welcome to pay more than R30 per month and help us build a festival fund. There are all kinds of things we could do if we had the money and I can assure you every cent will be used to give you better concerts and workshops.

There are a growing number of international artists that have expressed serious interest in coming to our festival. The usual deal is that we pay for their air tickets, accommodate, feed them, and thanks to the generosity of people like the Corbett family, we can often give them a few glorious days in one of South Africa's very best and most exclusive Lodges - Tintswalo! Plenty of Scientologists are happy to give them a bed and feed them but the tickets costs anything up to R20,000 or more.

Those that have already come over here have been a huge success and in the case of Stan Gerson, a world class magician and OT VIII, have also toured the outer Orgs giving lectures and magic shows. British actress and comedienne, Georgina Roberts, stayed on to do her Purif in JHB and others have popped out just to appear in the concerts.
